FAQ
Renting out your EV charger: common questions
Can I rent out my home EV charger in the UK?
Yes. Wattly is a peer-to-peer EV charging marketplace for the UK: you list your home charger, choose when it's available and what it costs, and local EV drivers book it by the hour. Listing is free, and Wattly takes a platform fee, shown before booking.
Is the Wattly app available yet?
The Wattly app for iPhone and Android is launching soon. Register your interest on this page and we'll email you the day it's live so you can list your charger.
How do I get paid?
Wattly partners with Stripe to process all payments. After a short setup, linking your bank account through Stripe Connect, your earnings are paid out to your bank automatically. No manual withdrawals needed.
What if someone damages my charger?
Every booking is tied to a Wattly account and every session is logged. If damage occurs, you can report it through the app with photos and our support team will investigate. Wattly doesn't provide insurance, so check your own cover includes sharing your charger. We recommend keeping the area well-lit and accessible.
Do I need a specific charger model?
Wattly supports Ohme, Easee, Zappi (myenergi), and Indra smart chargers via API integration. Other smart charger brands can be listed in manual mode: you simply confirm each session start and stop.
Can I still use my charger for my own EV?
Absolutely. You control your availability calendar. Just block out the times you need the charger yourself, and drivers will only see and book your open slots.
Is there a minimum commitment?
None at all. List your charger, earn what you can, and pause or remove your listing whenever you like. There are no contracts, no monthly fees, and no cancellation penalties.
How is the price per session calculated?
You set the price, either per hour or per kWh. Wattly takes a platform fee from each booking, shown before booking, and drivers see the full price before they book, so there are no surprises.
